Redoute’s Choicefilly kicks off a new era at Riverside How fitting that a filly by champion sire Redoute’s Choice will be the first lot through the ring at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Sale on April 9, the first time the major Sydney yearling auction has been held at the company’s new Riverside Stables at Warwick Farm. This filly will set the tone for the three-day auction, which sees 534 youngsters, the cream of the 2016 thoroughbred crop, catalogued. Redoute’s Choice (Danehill) has long been a drawcard for this sale and he has 24 lots entered, while his champion sire son Snitzel has 64. Yearlings by Fastnet Rock (44) and Exceed and Excel (17), two other champion sire sons of breed-shaper Danehill, will also feature strongly, while youngsters by Danehill grandsons like Not a Single Doubt (18) and Stratum (5) will also attract attention from the international buying bench, as will the 10-strong offering by All Too Hard (Casino Prince), a Danehill great-grandson. Also from the Danzig male line, but this time via Green Desert, the current sire sensation I Am Invincible (Invincible Sprit (IRE)) has been setting sale records at auctions throughout the early part of 2018 and the frenzy at Easter should reach fever pitch with 39 of his yearlings catalogued. There are a further eight from his Gr.1-winning son Brazen Beau who is already proving a star among first crop sires this season. Others with their first progeny into the ring in 2018 include Cox Plate winner Adelaide (IRE) (Galileo (IRE)), the exciting brothers Deep Field and Shooting to Win, both sons of ill-fated Northern Meteor (Encosta de Lago), whose son Zoustar leads the first crop sires this season thanks to his brilliant daughter Sunlight (he has 11 lots for Easter).
